Not the company you want to go with when you need something dependable. They're a tax company which makes it even more absurd that they mess around with deadlines.

Tener una organización en todos los movimientos contables. Para tener a los trabajadores y clientes al tanto de sus obligaciones.
Contras:
Por los buenos resultados .No tengo malas experiencias.

Comentarios: Saves us time with client and task tracking. No more chasing spreadsheets and lists.
Puntos a favor:
Extremely responsive customer service with lots of great customization to help keep your workflow on task. One stop shop to keep track of your workflow while maintaining client data and files. Endless opportunities due to constant upgrades and add-ons. We are currently migrating our entire firm onto the platform and utilizing the client portal feature to exchange information and save on printing, customer requests and storage options. Most impressive is their constant interaction asking how they can improve and getting feedback on new features.
Contras:
I really don't have any dislikes, and if something is a little clunky with a layout or usability they are usually upgrading or fixing it. I'm excited to see tax software so I guess I dislike not having it? The tax software would plug another hole and add well to the transcript and tax form resolution features.
Alternativas consideradas:
Good software with strong features and lots of promise at a pricey point.
Comentarios: My overall experience with Canopy has been a good one thus far. Even though I bitch about the cost l, I continue to stay because of the ease of use, simplicity for my clients, and automation I’ve created within my tech stack.
Puntos a favor:
The best feature is the client portal and mobile app. It has been a business transformation blessing from way before COVID was ever a thing. I remember way back in 2017 when the mobile app was nearly launching how it revolutionized the way my clients do business with me. This is what has kept me on Canopy in spite of the price hikes.
Contras:
Canopy recently has changed their pricing model and I don’t like it because it increases the barriers to tax professional adoption. There are other titles out there who bring good feature sets and a much lower price point and has given me reason to start shopping elsewhere. What keeps me at Canopy is not wanting to invest the time in moving my clients files over to a new system, notifying my clients that I virtually moved virtual offices, and avoiding the headaches of all the client questions that would ensue.
This is the worst software! Buyers beware!
Comentarios: Onboarding was a nightmare. Total waste of money with very little communication with teh onboarding team.

Nothing. The interface is messy. Nothing is automated.
Contras:
This is the messiest software. It is very un-user friendly. It is not automated and requires several manual steps to get to the finish line. Its just not efficient.

I love that Canopy had the ability to help me route my tasks properly and productively. I also LOVE that there is a firm facing iOS app. It helped me be portable!
Contras:
My biggest issue with Canopy was the KBA and not being able to customize certain aspects of the recurring projects.
Great tool for smooth relationship with Clients.

Falling in love its user friendly interface and allow me to keep professional with various types of customers. Employee's also love canopy cause they fill safe and secure sharing their views and opinions the platform.
Contras:
No existing offline solution for my employers. Rest all are doing great.

A revolutionary change in my accounting work!
Comentarios: Integrating all the key functions of my business into a single platform has been a real game changer. I no longer have to switch between different programs and tools to carry out daily tasks like managing clients, documents, workflows, time, billing, email and more.
Puntos a favor:
What I love the most is how this amazing accounting practice management suite has completely transformed my work. It has not only freed me from tedious and repetitive tasks, but it has given me a complete tool to manage and organize my accounting firm efficiently.
Contras:
Sometimes the learning curve can be a bit steep being a comprehensive platform with so many functions and features it can take some time to get familiar with all the tools and settings.
Great Fit For Small Tax Practice
Puntos a favor:
It covers all the features I need from my client-facing tech stack in one platform. I can share/receive files, send e-sign requests, manage work, send invoices, receive payments, and pull IRS transcripts all in Canopy. Support has also been very responsive to me and has helped me with all my questions.
Contras:
It is an evolving and growing platform that comes with occasional bugs and changes to the user experience.

Going to miss Canopy!
Comentarios: I love Canopy. I am closing my CPA practice and joined a national firm. There must be 50+ applications and multiple locations for document storage and management. I still find myself using Canopy every day while transitioning my clients over to the new firm. I can't say enough how functional Canopy is in managing the client work. Also, the folks at Canopy are great to work with. New additional functionality is added all the time. The development team has an open ear to ideas and improvements. Canopy is only going to get better with time. I would continue to use it if I could.
Puntos a favor:
Canopy is a great tool for all-in-one tracking of client relations, tasking, workflow, and running a CPA firm. I loved being able to go straight to the client home page and having access to all of the client information. Contact information, notes, tasks, important contacts related to the client, recent files, engagements - all of the information right there! Fantastic. Then I can drill down under communications to all of the client emails and correspondence with the client. Tax organizers are accessible from there too. All the information in one location! The fact that I could request an IRS transcript through Canopy for clients was amazing.
Contras:
I didn't use the online payment system since I used another system to payments. I wasn't a fan of the pricing plan but it still was comparable with other vendors. Overall there wasn't much about Canopy that I didn't like.

Canopy - our new best friend
Comentarios: Our experience with Canopy has been a very positive one. Their customer support is excellent. I have appreciated them reaching out to us to see how we are doing certain tasks and we are able to give them suggestions for change. I would recommend this product to other firms outside our demographic. I don't want the competition to have the advantage we have with Canopy!

We switched from Office Tools to Canopy over 2 years ago. The implementation and data transfer was almost seamless. The mobile app and client portal have been invaluable to our client base. We were implementing Canopy before COVID so when the shut downs hit we were already ahead of the game for being digital for everything with a portal and app that worked and was easy for our client base to use.
Contras:
I wish the reporting was more accurate so our utilization rates were a better reflection. It would nice to customize reports for what the firm values with certain items.

Local Tax CPA Firm
Comentarios: Overall, we are very happy with Canopy. It has allowed our firm to operate more efficiently, allowing for a number of manual processes to be automated, giving us more visibility over workflow, and the list of positives goes on and on. The software is not perfect, but they do a great job of listening to feedback. They are continuously making improvements.
Puntos a favor:
The software is easy to use for us internally as well as for our clients. Our firm has drastically benefited from the workflow, file management and client management features. We look forward to moving over our time and billing to have everything under one login.
Contras:
We would love to see a more robust Home-Admin page, bulk e-sign requests from templated letters (engagement letters), roles by contact to integrate with tasks to populate assignees (e.g., Partner, Bookkeeper, Preparer, Reviewer, etc.), limit parent task completion to select users (to avoid false completed tasks), share documents with non-portal users, send invoices to non-portal users, parent-sub invoicing, time & billing improvements, allow for folder templates to be applied when tasks are applied, allow for doubling clicking on a file to default to "Edit File" instead of preview mode, allow to search spouses on mobile, allow for additional formatting in Notes section.

We have Canopy for our three office accounting firm. The implementation team has been helpful, getting us set up. With thousands of users, this has been a commitment, but we’ll worth it once we get it up and running

Some of the sort features are limiting if you are working with multiple offices. They are working on that.

Puntos a favor:
I like have a place where clients feel safe with uploading documents that contain personal information like socials and not having to worry about hackers. I also like that clients have access to their documents even if we part ways. Having a secure and encrypted client portal is crucial to tax preparation.
Contras:
If a client has been with another company that used Canopy and now wants to leave and to to another company who also uses Canopy, they can't without changing their email as that email is tied to the former company and they have to call to have it deleted in order to go forward with the new company. This is not always possible if they left on a bad note. The new company should be able to add and the old company would auto be deleted.
Canopy is Great, Even for the Small Firm
Comentarios: We are on top of projects and more in control of our firm than ever before. Canopy solved some major growing pains for us.
Puntos a favor:
Canopy put everything in one place for us. The implementation was seamless and clients love it.
Contras:
QBO integration could be adjusted to not include inactive contacts that are no longer clients. Including these clients creates too much clutter in the software.
Canopy - a user-friendly and friendly-user solution
Comentarios: For most issues we've run into with Canopy, their internal team was able to fix the error with a very quick turnaround time or assist with producing a report on their end. Wherever they may lack in a feature, they are quick to find a solution if possible. No system is going to be 100% custom tailored with all the bells and whistles, no matter the price point. Canopy consistently delivers and does not require a lengthy training session to get new users rolling, and when time is money that's a big foot forward.
Puntos a favor:
The Canopy team is amazing at assisting with troubleshooting issues (very quick turnaround time) and are always working on new innovations. The fact that this is not just a set it and forget it system means that Canopy is always working to be a top competitor. They have a few Beta features (namely automation) in the works currently that as an Ops Manager I am thoroughly excited to see roll out. Their staff is always a pleasure to chat with and they hold quarterly 'First Look' webinars to explain what is new with their product and where they are going next - this team is always on the go.
Contras:
They have a few drawbacks such as the inability to send text messages (we use a third party system), lack of complex reporting (though easily created on the users end by CSV export and a little Excel wizardry), and a few other minor gruffs, but Canopy does have these on their radar (go check out the forums!) and is working on building these in over time.
Canopy Tax
Comentarios: Very good experience. Tech Support has been very helpful. Our clients like the portal too.
Puntos a favor:
Document sharing, obtaining electronic signatures is simple for us and our clients. Communication tab is also very helpful. This feature keeps communications from clients from getting siloed in individual team member's inbox. Being able to share files with clients and their other trusted advisors is also very helpful. Clients like that they can access data on their computer, their phone or their tablet.
Contras:
Each module has a separate cost. However, to use certain features you have to have a specific module even if we aren't using all the module features. Also, access cannot currently be given to 3rd parties on a file by file and contact basis. Currently, if we allow access to a client and their advisor to the portal, all files that have access turned on in the portal allow all these parties to view. It would be nice if we could pick and choose which client/important contact has access to which folder. For example, a client would have access to all their tax returns, estimates, and source documents. Their financial advisor could have access to only the tax returns.
Alternativas consideradas:
Better than Great
Comentarios: Canopy has helped me improve the remote part of my business, so I can serve Clients around the world, even when I am not in the US.
Puntos a favor:
The better-than-bank security made the choice a no-brainer.
Contras:
The instant access to files that a Client uploaded wasted precious seconds every time I accessed a Client's folder.

This product is a value proposition!
Comentarios: We switched from another product and have been delighted that we did. Canopy is easy to use, mostly intuitive, and easily customizable. It has allowed us to review budgets and save on payroll costs.
Puntos a favor:
Task management. It allows us to stay on schedule and complete tasks in a timely manner or allows management to review where tasks are "stuck" and why.
Contras:
LISTS! I can create customized lists, but I can't download the customized list. That's maddening.
Works wonderful
Comentarios: Over all it did help us get out many returns and have satisfied clients who liked being digital.
Puntos a favor:
It has been helpful in taking accountability and keeping all documents in one place.
Contras:
That we did not know enough about how to get the reports we needed to keep up with how many returns we actually got out and how many we still needed. As well having a hard time with digital signatures, clients were not able to get past the security questions which was odd.

Canopy is a Power for My Business
Comentarios: Solving fast paced production needs, particularly against short deadlines.
Puntos a favor:
The client portal system allows for high level encryption and immediate availability of necessary documents with particular emphasis on Transcript retrieval - wonderful to work with on source document retention and back checking transcripts to ensure accuracy in reports/returns.
Contras:
The documents needs to be searched chronologically and does not allow separate folders for organization.
