The auto-connect on startup allows you to 'forget' and not have to worry about turning on your VPN every time you start up your machine. By using the Wireguard protocol, Cyberghost can also block predefined content (ads, trackers, malware). The company has evolved from just a VPN to a complete security solution. If you are not a regular user, you would not want to spend money on a VPN. The CyberGhost windows app has gotten a lot faster now than it was before. The earlier versions sometimes did cause my windows to halt. I don't see that issue anymore with the versions of the last few years.
