Comentarios: If I get a say in the selection of tooling before starting the project, Azure DevOps is my go to.

Puntos a favor:

It's a full suite usable directly as is with very little configuration needed to get a jump start. Customizations and integrations are still possible though. I like the work experience better with Azure DevOps board rather than one of the competing backlog/task management suites.

Contras:

The Azure DevOps Boards seems a bit forgotten/sunsetting tool but hopefully there would be still future new features and enhancements to make it even better.Git approvals workflow really should be much more seamless so that either work from developer and approver perspective is only done in Git and automatically reflects to Azure DevOps tasks/work items. Or other way around, approval requests would get populated as task on board and moving it to done column would automatically approve pull request in Git. There is some still unlocked potential there with integration and seamless working experience.

It is a very complete continuous learning program

Comentarios: It has been an experience more good than bad, we believe that it is a program that deserves to be purchased, to be used, it has several strong aspects when developing or at least complements the work that had already been done and provides new configurations when developing. Compatibility with many applications.

Puntos a favor:

It is a program that helps us obtain better ideas when generating new projects within the company. It was crucial for the team to have access to new learning tools and we believe that we were able to obtain this at the time that helped us make development compatible. with other formats. Azure DevOps provides robust continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) capabilities, which are crucial for modern software development in our team and in this way we have complemented work with what we already had.

Contras:

We did not like the project manager system that we believe is outdated, it does not have all the tools that we need, therefore in this sense we had to choose to buy other programs that would help us separately with this problem.

It's my favourite DevOps tool

Comentarios: It's my favourite DevOps tool, it's always good to see when a client uses Azure DevOps over other tools

Puntos a favor:

The sheer amount of possibilities the product offers. I love the fact that your git repos and agile task management is in the same place, it's very easy to link tickets to repo branches. Merging branches works very good.

Contras:

Some pages (like retrospectives) don't auto-refresh which can be quite annoying. You should also be careful with some changes as it may affect a lot of tickets and can result in a lot of manual labour to fix things.

You don't get notifications inside of the app so this is worthless

Comentarios: If you don't care about being up to date about what is going on in your projects, it's brilliant. If you want to know when someone comments on your ticket, don't even bother. Even JIRA onprem does this now?

Puntos a favor:

...there is a moment where you think oh maybe there is life beyond Atlassian products and the idea of competition in the market place is good. I suppose the fact that wiki's are included in the price whilst for Atlassian confluence is a whole other paid product is good?

Contras:

It doesn't have the concept of closing a sprint. So items just... remain. You cannot easily move them to the 'new' sprint. You have to think far too hard about administration 'what area is an item in'. Bulk actions are poor. Most chaotically - there are no in app notifications?!?! So you get an email about everything. And you get hundreds of emails. If you are under the age of 35 this is unacceptable really.

A terrific management and reporting service

Comentarios: It's incredible useful both for project managers and team members to clearly see the progress of tickets throughout a project's lifetime, and keeping track of testing progress.

Puntos a favor:

There are so many features, from managing project tasks to test suites to project retrospectives. Creating flexible queries is also a massive help

Contras:

The user interface can be difficult to use at times

A fantastic offering for small development teams

Comentarios: We've improved a number of key workflows with Azure DevOps and it's proved to be an invaluable addition to our software development cycle.

Puntos a favor:

The service provides a lot under the one package, task management, source control, CI/CD, and release pipelines. If you are a small team or just starting off, you'll be able to take advantage of it all for either free, or very little money. It's clearly designed to get teams hooked on Azure and it does this job well.

Contras:

The UI is clunky in places, task management specifically leaves a lot to be desired. While the close integration with source control is fantastic, editing and navigating between tasks take far too long and you're much more likely to avoid doing it or take a lot longer to complete a simple job.

My personal view

Comentarios: I like the eas of use, very good integration possibilities in the already existing Office tools like teams or to-do app. I also like the Azure devops market place

I would like to see more priorization features like a priorization matrix tools on workitem base

Contras:

The view of the work items are not always logical not always clear why some work items are not shown when filtered for example to assigned person

Azure DevOps Services is essential for ALM

In reporting it could be better, delivering reports on pipelines, Azure Repost, and agents. There is great room for improvement to monitor and control projects.

Great Project Management Tool

Comentarios: I love utilizing it and the reporting functionality to push Burn Down and Burn Up charts to gauge team production of past, current and future deployments.

Puntos a favor:

I love how you can manage multiple projects and maintain a step by step process while being able to view, correct and progress during software development.

Contras:

I wish that it integrated with Loop so that you could keep teams updated more efficiently.

DevOps is a Great Platform for Developers, Not the Average Professional

Puntos a favor:

The click and drag task management function was intuitive and satisfying.

Contras:

DevOps was clearly made for software developers. The average business professional would have a huge learning curve trying to adjust to this platform. I used it for over a year and still didn't know how to use 90% of its capabilities. I'm sure it's a powerful tool; it's just not user friendly or intuitive.

Excellent tool for addressing the demands of cloud infrastructure

pipeline service for project code. Excellent tool for Agile procedures. Testing Plans and UI that are simple and clear.

Contras:

Even for seasoned users, the online material on Microsoft Developer Network could be more lucid and simple to understand.

Great CI/CD Tool - Azure DevOps

Comentarios: Azure DevOps is a great product that is helpful in development, integration, collaboration, and tracking the process progress.

Puntos a favor:

Services which are provided by Azure DevOps are pipelines, boards, repos, test plans, and artifacts.Each service provides its best for the user's needs.Azure boards in project tracking, Pipelines in automation, test plan to manage test cases, and a dashboard provides a complete overview of all projects.

Contras:

The main drawback that I faced here is that it is difficult to integrate with other tools.Pipeline configuration is also quite difficult, and it might get slower sometimes.

A reliable devops tool for our development team

Comentarios: overall this is a grate SAAS for DevOps, our development team relies on it in day-to-day operations.

Puntos a favor:

The CI\CD process is straightforward, easy to use and setup.

Contras:

the project management function is not as good as other competitors, so our team did not move our project management part into it.

Manage your tasks and create valuable dashboards with Azure ADO

Comentarios: We use Azure ADO for tracking our internal tasks and activities. Some teams, also use Azure Artifacts and Azure Pipelines for their CI/CD requirements. The platform has proven pretty solid in terms of performance and since it is backed by Microsoft, security is also taken care of!

Puntos a favor:

1. Easy to use console: Azure ADO console is clean and very easy to use. It offers mutiple services like Azure Boards, Azure Artifacts and Azure Pipeline as well. All there features are pretty solid and packed with the required feature set. Integrations are also available to make sure the end user can use multiple tools at the same time. 2. Azure Boards: also offer Kanban style task tracking which is proven to be one of the best task management tool.

Contras:

There are no major cons for Azure ADO. It offers all the required feature-set and integrations which is required by any large organisation. API access is also available in case anyone want's to access the services via CLI. We have not observed any lack or disadvantage for Azure ADO so far.

One Stop Solution for all DevOps needs

Comentarios: All in all, I found Azure DevOps Services very useful. It has some of the great features which i have been using daily. It helps me to collaborate with colleagues, track working items, plan sprints, Source code management and Continuous integration/deployment of builds.

Puntos a favor:

Azure DevOps Services offers various features, I'm using Pipelines(CI/CD), Artifacts, Boards and Repositories mostly. All of the features are very well developed and easy to use. Intensive documentation is offered by Microsoft to learn more about platform's features. Board helps me to track work items. Repositories helps to do peer programming and Pipelines helps to build automatically and deploy. It's integration with other tools like Sonarqube, Ansible and Jenkins are not that hard as well.

Contras:

If some of the features comes with learning curve. Apart from that, Microsoft hosted agent pools has its own limitation they are not very useful if we have some special requirements for our project.

Visual Studio Team Service - A step towards DevOps.

Comentarios: Microsoft VSTS DevOps is the best move by the Microsoft, as DevOps is the advanced software development strategy. Continuous Testing with integration of xUnit, jUnit and Selenium make it more flexible. Automation build & Deploy with vNext is good as compared to XML build. Collection code coverage is also good. The Azure DevOps enables DevOps for all platform's software development.

Puntos a favor:

Microsoft Visual Studio Team Service DevOps is also known as VSTS DevOps. Development in DevOPS methodology is way fast then the agile. It accelerates the development process and developer. Build & Release is also enhance from the previous version and easy to manage the complex merges while release of the different product. Continuous delivery of the product also help the developer to work and focus on the single task which help in increasing the productivity. Automation Test and Monitoring of application possible with it.

Contras:

TFSVC work-space are complex and managing the permission for security is mess up if we select some inappropriate setting. Resolving and fixing it is a big challenge., Microsoft should come with the backup or restore point for the same so if it can be easy to fix can and restore on the earlier position.

Awesome solution to deliver projects at scale

Comentarios: The experience has been very positive and feedback from my coworkers has been positive in how the tool has helped meet the needs of the broader organization. Given that our team operates in an agile sprint environment, we were able to customize and tailor the tool exactly to our needs so that anyone involved or brought into a project mid way through is able to easily go in and find all the tasks associated with an individual project.

Puntos a favor:

I have most liked the ability to record, track and optimize the processes that go into internal collaboration between developers and projects managers. The ability to track the steps and progress of any development projects and the project hierarchy within the front end interface makes it easy to drill down and view details about any given task in the platform.

Contras:

The account manager who has been assigned to help us with customer support has not always been responsive and thorough in providing answers to questions that have some complexities. It was not ideal when needing a faster turn around time for specific development and product needs.

VSTS DevOps - A complete solution for pure DevOps.

Comentarios: VSTS DevOps is helping use to manage team ,code and operation. We are using it with Azure Cloud and the experience is really good. vNext build is able to build the .net Core application easily.

Puntos a favor:

VSTS DevOps provide the complete integrity with Development and Operational work. The architecture is helping in boosting the development & Operational process. VSTS take care for complete CI/CD pipeline. Best and loving part in it is that it provide freedom in selecting the TFVC or GIT as version controlling. Integrity with Azure Cloud is also good which it make this tool a complete DevOps system so that it can be achieve the deployment part with zero outage. XAML and vNext build help in deployment of 100's servers without any human error, as it just need one time setup for builds.

Contras:

Installation architecture of VSTS DevOps having a lot of curves, Build Controller and Gated Build need time to setup and Microsoft should make it easy to under and setup. In last few years I am seeing the changes the it moving towards the web-based application, Console like security and permission are now only available in web base pages only.

Highly effective service for maintaining code repository, build & release activity

Comentarios: It becomes very easy to track and monitor all the project level activities from one platform. Ensures the code quality and continuous integration very effective.

Puntos a favor:

It is very easy to configure the CI-CD pipelines to make the release build pipelines. Maintaining the efficient code repositories to ease the code management activities. It ensures the different boards for maintaining the different boards across the organization.

Contras:

Some of the best services like Time Tracking and Event based triggers are still not included in this product as we need to import it as extensions.

Azure DevOps Services - Best in the market

Comentarios: Overall experience has been great. We use it to manage our release every sprint as it helps in code repository management and deployments

Integration with GitHub and Power Platform is seamless

Contras:

It is a bit complex with respect to initial setup

An unmissable part of the Application Lifecycle Management

Comentarios: As a DevOps engineeer I help a group of teams with there Application Lifecycle Management (ALM). Team Foundation Server (TFS) is an unmissible part in the ALM setup. TFS is very customizable, and you can fast add new projects to the lifecycle to to TFS

Puntos a favor:

ease of use clear architecture quick setup easy to customize. From dashboards, to custom Build tasks. Very good at helping you prevent legacy. For example we have over 200 build definitions. These are very good manageable due to the use of Task Groups. Integration with Git version control is first class

Contras:

We don't use the Release module of Team Foundation Server because it misses a lot of features compared to Octopus Deploy

A full package

Puntos a favor:

It works seamlessly with its own services as well as third party integrations. Reduces a lot of time in developing flows.

Contras:

There is not out of the box way to pass variables from build to release pipeline.

Organization and Visibility

Comentarios: This has helped our business get organized on the multiple projects we are engaged in simultaneously. We had tried a few other systems but this is by far the best.

Puntos a favor:

I think the best thing about ADO, at least for me and my needs is visibility. It's very easy to see where a ticket is in its cycle and easy to follow up on things as needed. Other coworkers can check the status of their items which removes the need for constant email check ups.

Contras:

I'm sure this feature can be turned off (or I could filter my inbox) but I receive a lot of emails about updates on tickets but some of them are unnecessary. I don't need an email to let me know someone liked or thumbed up my comment.

Functional, but frustrating

Comentarios: We've been using Azure DevOps for quite some time, and it's enabled our team to complete tasks efficiently while working from home.

Puntos a favor:

Azure DevOps Services provides an all in one product planning, tracking, and collaboration experience enabling teams to work well from different teams, projects, locations, and time zones.

Contras:

While the power of this software is certainly there, it can be frustrating to use, feeling very much so like a tool aimed at development rather than general product management. UI is clunky, and it can be hard to keep up to date on everything needed.
